I feel much privileged to write the foreword of this timely and thoughtful book, Islam and Democracy in South Asia: The Case of Bangladesh. Earlier, I was privileged to read some of the articles written by the authors of this volume which were published in various international peer-reviewed journals. Although my last name is similar to the authors’, I do not share any kinship with any of them. As professor and former head of political science, I have read the manuscript with ample interest. I must say that the authors of this seminal book are relatively younger in age but deeper in thoughts, profound in insights, and stronger in arguments. This volume is a timely and significant contribution to the field of religion and politics in general and Islam and democracy in particular.
