A 35-year-old man developed pure red cell aplasia (PRCA) during treatment with isoniazid for tuberculosis. The man, who had tuberculosis, had been receiving isoniazid [dosage and route not stated], rifampin, pyrazinamide and ethambutol for one month. He was hospitalised with normocytic-normochromic-anaemia. On admission, lab tests showed haemoglobin of 6.1 g/dL, WBC of 5600 cells/mm3, platelet count of 2.5 lakhs/mm3 and IRF of 0%. His bone marrow biopsy showed hypocellular with normoblastic erythropoiesis. He was diagnosed with isoniazid-induced PRCA. Isoniazid was discontinued.
