The Workshop on Measure Theory and its Applications held at the Universite de Sherbrooke from June 7 to 18, 1982, was attended by 87 mathematicians from 12 countries.

There, new and significant results in Ergodic Theory, Choquet Repre-

sentation Theory, Vector Measures, Measure Theory and Topology were presented. The program consisted of three expository lectures of three hours each, nineteen invited lectures of one hour, and twenty six contributed twenty minute papers. The Workshop was sponsored by the Universite de Sherbrooke, NSERC of Canada, FCAC of Quebec, the Canadian Mathematical Society, and ACFAS.

The organizers

wish to express their gratitude to the sponsors, to Mrs. M. O'Bready and C. Vachon for their secretarial work, and to Mrs. T. Marchand for careful typing of the manuscript of the proceedings. The organizers offer special thanks to the VicePrincipal, Professor B. Benard and to the Dean, Professor A. Cabana for representing the University and the Faculty of Science at the opening ceremony.

a

l'Uni-

Les or-
