Pulmonary fibrosis in an elderly patient: case report An elderly patient [age and sex not stated] with recurrent urinary tract infections was receiving 18-month treatment with nitrofurantoin, and developed CT-confirmed pulmonary fibrosis [route, dosage, duration of treatment to reaction onset and outcome not stated]. This case was reported to the Danish Medicines Agency. Author comment: "The summary of product characteristics for the product [Nitrofurantoin] states that it may cause acute and chronic pulmonary changes". Danish Health and Medicines Authority.
