Preface

This book is based on my studies and observations of Iran’s conflicts with the West for more than four decades. I have examined many relevant books, official documents, the international press, and memoirs of the politicians involved in Iran’s foreign affairs. The book is about Iran’s relations with the West and in particular with the United States and Great Britain. Iran’s relations with the West both before and after the 1979 revolution are analyzed from the neocolonial perspective. A few chapters of this book are based partly on some short articles concerning Iran’s foreign affairs that I have occasionally written in the past few years and published them on some popular websites on the Internet. The original idea of the book came to me when I published a short article on the subject of comparing Iran’s oil and nuclear disputes with the West and received encouraging comments from readers and colleagues. The book’s theme of the analysis is the treatment of a developing country under domination of great powers for decades.
