■ The Netherlands Pharmacovigilance Centre Lareb has received seven reports of arthralgia associated with the use of cetirizine [Zyrtec] or levocetirizine [Xyzal] to 1 March 2007. Four reports involved cetirizine* (reporting odds ratio [ROR] 1.7; 95% CI 0.6, 4.5) and three involved levocetirizine (3.4; 1.1, 11). There were six positive dechallenges and two positive rechallenges (to cetirizine) among these cases. Arthralgia is not listed in the Dutch Summary of Product Characteristics for either agent. The Uppsala Monitoring Centre database contains 54 reports of arthralgia associated with cetirizine (ROR 0.8; 0.6, 1.0) and five reports associated with levocetirizine (4.1; 1.7, 10). * Details of these cases appear in this issue, p15; 801075186 Lareb.
