Abstract Using ad hoc information amid of adaptable terminals, mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) are absolute of any kind of communication infrastructure even though the communication quality might be degrade, since the mobile nodes roam in the service area and therefore the route paths have been disconnected frequently and re-established later. This has been considered as a major problem for quality metric and this proposes non uniformity in route path. To overcome this unstable state this paper introduces a new metric called route availability (RA). This paper proposes a new abstraction of RA as a metric for route non uniformity in a MANET and verifies how efficiently it represents the quality of service of a mobile network or the quality of experience of audio and video streaming. This concept is experimented with environment support and congenital ambience that emulates a MANET able of audio and video streaming. An additional parameter is developed for measuring route availability of two routing techniques are ad hoc on-demand distance vector routing and destination sequenced distance vector. This RA has been observed with metrics of quality of service like packet loss ratio, throughput. Finally the availability of the route is estimated by quality assessment test. The quality of audio and video streaming is increased with experimental results. The unusual movements in the mobile terminal are called as mobility. Due to the mobility of mobile nodes, the topological changes are to be updated in routing table entry is an essential. This frequent update will be considered as metric for future transmission of route data. Nowadays, accessing and downloading of audio and video files through mobile networks are increasing. In some situations, there is a delay and poor quality while downloading the audio and video files. This can be engaged for some urgent delivery of medical emergencies and disaster areas or for multi-hop transfer of videos around multiple mobile terminals. This cause many expectations even for machine to machine communication also. Unlike conve
