Saccharomyces cerevisiae fungaemia and sepsis: case report A 51-day-old female infant developed Saccharomyces cerevisiae fungaemia and sepsis while receiving Saccharomyces-boulardii as probiotics therapy [dosage and route not stated]. The infant, who had feeding intolerance and abdominal distension, started receiving Saccharomyces-boulardii twice-daily as probiotics [dose not stated]. On day 14 of receiving probiotics, she developed sepsis. Her blood cultures detected Saccharomyces cerevisiae. She was treated with fluconazole. After treatment, she recovered completely, and her blood cultures were negative. Lee HM, et al. A case of saccharomyces cerevisiae fungemia in a premature infant treated with probiotics.
