Northern California Section Welcomes Spring Meeting Attendees
New MRS Proceedings Volumes on Sale at Spring Meeting
George E. Pake to Address Plenary Session at Spring Meeting
The Northern California Section of the Materials Research Society invites Spring Meeting attendees to participate in a social hour on Sunday, April 14, 7:00-9:00 p.m. on the Convention Level of the Golden Gateway Holiday Inn. Participants will enjoy beer, snacks, and a cash bar and "formal" entertainment of Bohmischestyle lectures on materials topics. Speakers will bej. Mayer (Cornell University), T. Cahill (University of California, Davis), and C. Evans (Charles Evans and Associates).
The first three proceedings volumes published from symposia presented at the 1984 Fall Meeting will be on display and available for purchase for the first time at the Spring Meeting. The publications desk in the registration area will have copies for purchase of Layered Structures, Epitaxy, and Interfaces (Volume 37, edited by J. M. Gibson and L. R. Dawson), Plasma
George E. Pake, group vice president, corporate research for Xerox Corporation, will address the 1985 MRS Spring Meeting at the Plenary and Student Awards Session, Monday, April 15, 1985 at 6:00 p.m. Dr. Pake will discuss "The Material Foundation of Modern Scientific and Technological Advances." As author of three physics monographs and approximately 50 papers, Pake has contributed a wealth of knowledge to the materials community. He is a member of the National Academy of Science, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Association of University Professors and is a Fellow and past president of the American Physical Society.
Tuesday Evening Poster Sessions Provide Opportunity for Crosstalk Poster presentations at the Spring Meeting are scheduled for Tuesday, April 16, 7:00-9:00 p.m. in their respective symposium meeting rooms, when meeting attendees are invited to discuss the poster topics with the authors. The posters will remain on display throughout the remainder of the meeting, enabling those attending other symposia to view the displays at their convenience.
Synthesis and Etching of Electronic Materials
(Volume 38, edited by R. P. H. Chang and B. Abeles), and Electronic Packaging Materials Science ((Volume 40, edited by E. A. Giess, K.-N. Tu, and D. R. Uhlmann). Attendees can purchase these three new titles plus place orders for the other seven procedings volumes scheduled for publication within the next few weeks. Attendees are also reminded that five volumes are to be published from the symposia being conducted at the Spring Meeting. These five volumes can be ordered during the Spring Meeting at a special pre-publication price. Prices for members will be higher following publication of the books.
