Herpes zoster in an elderly patient: case report A 71-year-old woman received tocilizumab for rheumatoid arthritis [route and dosage not stated]. Four days following her fourth perfusion, she developed herpes zoster. She was admitted with asthenia, fever, and a welldefined, unilateral dermatomal vesicular eruption with multiple large bullae, involving the T3, T4 and T5 dermatomes on her left side. Ten days later she was receiving aciclovir and had developed postherpetic neuralgia, but her course was otherwise favourable. Author comment: "In this case report, [tocilizumab] was responsible for serious herpes zoster, 14-days’ hospitalisation and postherpetic neuralgia." Kubandova Z, et al.
