Ó ASM International 2018
2018 Aug 6–9 Oct 8–10 Practical Interpretation of Microstructures ASM World Headquarters, Materials Park, OH This ‘‘hands-on’’ course presents information on microstructures, heat treatment, and use of each group of alloys. You will be able to view actual structures on a projection screen. The features of the structures are pointed out and discussed. You will then examine over 200 mounts at their microscope stations and compare them with an illustrated and annotated notebook of the structures. There are no required prerequisites, but the basic knowledge of sample preparation, heat treating, or metallurgy will enhance the understanding of the presented material. You are encouraged to bring prepared metallographic specimens to the class for discussion (3.0 CEUs).

Aug 9–10 Engine Failure Investigation and Analysis Greenville, SC Engine failures can occur in a variety of equipment, vehicles, and applications. On occasion, a single vehicle type or equipment family will even experience multiple engine failures leading to the inevitable need to determine what the most likely cause of one or all of those failures was. This comprehensive seminar introduces participants to the methods and techniques used to understand the types of variables and inputs that can affect engine reliability and then determine the most likely cause of an individual engine or group of engine failures in the field. This two-day seminar was developed for engineers and technical personnel to gain a high level, broad understanding of why and how fasteners and other similar items are heat treated and plated or coated. The demands on today’s fasteners are ever increasing
