SINTERING '95 Will Explore the Science, Technology, and Applications of Sintering SINTERING '95, an international conference organized and hosted by Pennsylvania State University's Particulate Materials Center, will be held September 24-27, 1995 at the Scanticon Hotel and Conference Center in State College, Pennsylvania. The program is being chaired by Professors Randall M. German and Gary L. Messing, both of Perm State, and coordinated by an international organizing committee of 29 recognized experts in the field. The three-day event will cover new developments in the applications of sintering processes for fabricating powder particulate-based materials, will investigate new modeling of densification mechanisms, and will explore novel and alternative processes for conventional sintering. Highlighting the conference will be a special session devoted to future needs in the field of sintering. More than 300 investigators and practitioners frorh the international sintering community are expected to attend. The program—which will comprise about 100 invited lectures, contributed papers, and poster presentations—will focus on the following topics: Modeling and Simulation of Sintering, Modeling of Grain Growth,
Computer Simulations, Sintering Kinetics, Liquid Phase Sintering, Processing Sintering Microstructure Relationships, Characterization, In Situ Microscopy of Sintering, Dimensional Control, Sintering Reactive Systems, Novel Sintering Techniques, Pressure-Assisted Densification, Atmosphere Effects and Control, and Microstructure. Papers are being solicited on these topics, and the deadline for abstracts is November 15,1994. A peer-reviewed conference proceedings will be published. SINTERING '95 has been endorsed by the American Ceramic Society, APMI International, the International Institute for the Science of Sintering, the Metal Powder Industries Federation, and the Materials Research Society.
