Hallucinations and multiple dreams: 3 case reports In a study involving 151 patients who had been admitted to a hospital in China for treatment of haematological disease/ malignant tumour between May 2016 and May 2017, 3 patients* [ages and sexes were not stated] were described, who developed hallucinations (2 patients) or multiple dreams (1 patient) during antibiotic therapy with voriconazole. The patients received antibiotic therapy with voriconazole [dosages and routes not stated] along with concomitant unspecified chemotherapy and nutritional support. The patients subsequently developed hallucinations (n=2) or multiple dreams (n=1), which were suspected to be induced by voriconazole. Both the patients who developed hallucinations, exhibited a plasma trough concentration ranging between 2–2.5 µg/mL (n=1) and 3–3.5 µg/mL (n=1). The remaining patient who developed multiple dreams, exhibited a plasma trough concentration between 1.5–2 µg/mL [durations of treatments to reactions onsets and outcomes not stated]. Author comment: The symptoms of psychiatric abnormality induced by voriconazole were mainly depression, hallucinations, anxiety, and multiple dreams. * All the three patients were identified from table 3 of the article.
