Aspirin Pseudo-allergic urticaria reaction: case report A 30-year-old man presented with generalised urticaria; he had experienced repeated episodes of increasing intensity over the preceding months. Viral infection, associated drug intake and a correlation with ingested foods were excluded. Investigations revealed that he had visited his mother-in-law on either the day of, or the day before, the development of urticaria on all occasions. He kept a food diary while visiting his mother-in-law and it was found that she had used aspirin [dosage not stated] as a preservative in home-canned food that he had consumed. Aspirin was proven to be the causative agent by provocation test. He avoided the aspirin-containing food and did not experience any further episodes of urticaria during 6 months’ follow-up.
