Tremor in upper extremities: case report A 45-year-old woman developed tremor in upper extremities during treatment with azathioprine for Crohn’s disease. The woman was admitted with a diagnosis of Crohn’s disease. She had been treated with unspecified steroids, and after presentation, she was initiated on treatment with azathioprine 50 mg/day [route not stated] and infliximab. She did not experience adverse effects at that dose. Two weeks later, her azathioprine dose was increased to 100 mg/day. However, she developed tremor of the upper extremities on five consecutive days after 45–60 minutes of azathioprine treatment. Her tremors lasted for 5 hours. A physical examination was normal and neurological examination did not show deficits. The woman’s azathioprine dose was lowered to 50 mg/day. Her tremor resolved immediately. Azathioprine was continued at the low dose till her Crohn’s disease resolved. Fasoulas K, et al.
