Perspectives on Medical Education

an international TMO will have added val ue, giving Dutch medical education a place in the international arena thereby widen ing the views of both our Dutch and inter national readers.

The Board of the Netherlands Association for Medical Education (Nederlandse Ver eniging voor Medisch Onderwijs, NVMO) and the Editorial Board of the Netherlands Journal of Medical Education (Tijdschrift voor Medisch Onderwijs, TMO) have taken the initiative to transform the Journal from a Dutch-language journal to an interna tional English-language journal. Starting in January 2012 the Journal will be pub lished in English under the new name of Perspectives on Medical Education.

Types of Manuscripts The Journal aims to provide an interna tional platform for innovation and re search in health professions education. The readers of the Journal are clinical and preclinical health care professionals, edu cationalists, professionals, policy makers, students and other professionals with an interest in health professions education. Authors are invited to submit papers covering a wide range of topics – innova tion and research in health professions ed ucation, case studies, practical guidelines and opinion papers. This clearly constitutes a barrier to broadening the scope of the journal and to enhancing its appeal to the increasingly in ternationally orientated health professions education community. Moreover, by trans forming TMO into Perspectives on Medical Education we will be able to offer in ternational authors an additional option for publication. Although we are aware that the number of medical education jour nals is quite substantial, we do believe that
