Treatment failure: 2 case reports In a case series, two neonates [exact ages not stated] were described, who experienced treatment failure following treatment with ibuprofen for patent ductus arteriosus [dosages and routes not stated]. The premature newborn twins, who had acute renal failure, hyperbilirubinaemia and infant respiratory distress syndrome, underwent patent ductus arteriosus closure after therapy failure with 3 doses of ibuprofen.
