Drug-induced liver injury: case report A 42-year-old woman developed drug-induced liver injury while receiving treatment with letrozole for invasive ductal breast cancer. The woman, who had estrogen receptor positive, invasive ductal breast cancer, had received doxorubicin, cyclophosphamide and paclitaxel. Subsequently, she started receiving letrozole [dosage and route not stated] and luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone agonists. Six months later, her liver enzymes elevated. She was hospitalised. At admission, lab tests showed aspartate transaminase of 439 U/L, alkaline phosphatase of 420 U/L, gamma-glutamyl transferase of 699 U/L, alanine aminotransferase of 222 U/L and bilirubin of 30.2 µmo/L. Liver biopsy showed drug-induced liver injury. Letrozole was discontinued, and the woman was treated with corticosteroid. One month later, her liver enzyme levels improved. Custovic N, et al.
