Plant breeding is a very important discipline of agriculture where desirable changes are made to make plants more useful for human consumption. Continuous integration of innovative technologies and involvement of trained human resources are two important strategies to ensure progressive enhancement of crop production. India has the potential to shine as a global destination for the plant breeding industry as it has a wide range of agro-climatic zones, rich heritage of genetic diversity, and abundance of human resources. However, existing resources need to be nurtured for better capitalization. This book Commercial Status of Plant Breeding in India comprises four chapters, each covering a topic of relevance for commercial visibility of plant breeding in India. The main feature of this book is to highlight the actual and potential scope of the plant breeding industry in India. The content of this book is organized according to the needs of two kinds of readers: The first kind of readers are ordinary people, consumers, students, teachers, policy makers, and government officials who do not have direct commercial interest but need to be sensitized to understand the importance of crop production as a major contributo
