Glycyrrhiza Allergic contact dermatitis: case report A 35-year-old woman had a ’recovery cream’ containing liquorice root extract [dosage not stated] applied to her face after a facial chemical exfoliation procedure. The following day, she experienced acute erythema and swelling of her face, and developed periorbital oedema. The symptoms resolved after a week. The woman underwent patch testing using the ’recovery cream’ and assorted cosmetic and fragrance allergens. She tested positive (++) to the ’recovery cream’ only, at day 2 and day 4, and also tested positive (++) to liquorice root extract (1% pet.) at day 2 and day 4.
