Lack of efficacy: case report A 69-year-old man exhibited lack of efficacy during treatment with immune globulin for liver dysfunction. The man, who had undergone liver transplantation due to hepatocellular carcinoma and hepatitis C, had received antiviral treatment with elbasvir/grazoprevir 1 month after liver transplantation with sustained viral response. Seven months after the transplantation, he presented with severe liver dysfunction and was found to have antibody-mediated rejection of transplant. Despite receiving 9 sessions of unspecified immunoadsorption and IV immune globulin [immunoglobulin; dosage not stated] no response was noted. Thus, the man was admitted and underwent re-transplantation. He received induction immunosupression with unspecified polyclonal antibodies and conventional triple therapy with tacrolimus, mycophenolate mofetil and unspecified steroids. The outcome was uneventful. The man had normal function 9 months post-retransplant. Dopazo C, et al. Treatment of antibody mediated rejection after liver transplant: What do we know?.
