Abstract &Jamming and interference are significant problems in wireless networks including sensor networks and tactical military networks. Recently, intelligent jamming schemes have been introduced to enhance the jamming capability based on the understanding of protocols, while ensuring energy efficiency. In this paper, we examine how to mitigate the effect of the intelligent jamming method and present an adaptive network-layer jamming resilient scheme. We show the proposed scheme achieves reliable data delivery as well as reduces control overhead in the face of the intelligent jamming. Introduction

Wireless communication technology is prevalent these days with diverse service areas such as not only the commercial field including Internet of Things (IoT) but also the military domain. In a commercial area, wireless relay nodes are used to extend the coverage of the wirelesss network. In addition, IoT devices and wearable devices with diverse sensors including biosensors are connected everywhere through wireless communcation, which enhances information availability and creates new value from diverse information sources. In a military field, it is important to provide connectivity among military entities even in the case when no communication infrastructure is available. Thus, wireless communication capability is significantly important asset that enables communications at any place, especially in a disaster situation or wartime. J.-J. Lee() · J. One of major limitations of wireless networks is vulnerability against jamming [1-2]. Recently, intelligent jamming schemes have been introduced and have shown the effectiveness and energy efficiency of the jamming methods [3-4]. Intelligent jamming schemes make use of protocol knowledge to enhance jamming capability and also can save jamming energy utilizing the protocol operations. One approach is the link layer protocol aware jamming attack method [3]. Another intelligent jamming attack scheme operates based on the awareness of a network-layer protocol [4]. This jamming scheme selects the jamming rate that maxizes data loss with the understanding of protocol behaviors. In this paper, we introduce an adaptive jamming resilient scheme at network layer, which can improve reliable data delivery in the face of the intelligent jamming attack. Based on the understanding of the vulnerabilities of routing protocols and the intelligent jamming scheme, the jamming resilient method can achieve the higher data delivery in the face of the smart jamming attack. In addition, we show that the proposed scheme can reduce the control overhead caused by the rou
