Minocycline Cutaneous and scleral pigmentation in an elderly patient: case report An 81-year-old man with a significant medical history was hospitalised for gradual deterioration in general functioning, inappetence, chronic lumbar pain and exertional dyspnoea. At the time of presentation, he was on a number of medications including oral minocycline 50mg twice daily for the past 16 years for rosacea. On examination, he presented with blue-grey skin pigmentation underneath his eyebrows, periorally and symmetrically on his forehead. He also had blue discoloration of both sclerae, which dissipated towards his lateral interpalpebral fissures. His abnormal cutaneous and scleral pigmentation had progressed over several years, and was most likely attributed to his prolonged minocycline therapy [patient outcome not stated]. Richter JC, et al.
