Minocycline Pigmentation in a patient with capillaritis: case report A 36-year-old man with worsening nodulocystic acne and capillaritis started receiving oral minocycline modified release capsules [Minocin MR] 100 mg/day. After 18 months, he presented with blue-gray pigmentation of both of his legs at the sites of pre-existing capillaritis. Minocycline was withdrawn and he had slow but gradual symptom resolution. Author comment: "[I]t has been speculated that the pigment may be a drug metabolite-protein complex chelated with calcium, or an insoluble minocycline-melanin complex." Madan V, et al. Minocycline-induced pigmentation of pre-existing capillaritis. British Journal of Dermatology 156: 590-591, No. 3, Mar 2007 801061216 England
