Pantoprazole Subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus: case report

A 64-year-old woman developed subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus during treatment with pantoprazole for worsening gastrointestinal reflux. The woman, who had a history of hypertension, rheumatoid arthritis, gastrointestinal reflux and asthma, presented with a 2-month history of a worsening pruritic rash on the extremities. Review of systems was significant for chronic joint pain. She had been receiving pantoprazole for worsening gastrointestinal reflux for 3 months [dosage and route not stated]. Examination of her extremities revealed large annular, erythematous to violaceous plaques with coarse scale and focal haemorrhagic crust. Serum antibody test showed anti-Ro positivity. A punch biopsy of her left forearm confirmed the diagnosis of subacute cutaneous lupus erythematous [outcome not stated]. Burke KT, et al. Annular pruritic plaques in a middle-aged woman.
