Workshop on Diamond Films to be Held in Ohio A Workshop on the Science and Technology of Diamond Thin Films has been organized by Case Western Reserve University and the American Carbon Society. The Workshop, which will be conducted in the format of a Gordon Conférence, will be held May 20-24, 1990 at the Quail Hollow Resort and Conférence Center in Concord, Ohio. The Workshop will focus on two topical thèmes—fundamental mechanisms of nucleation and growth, and industrial applications—with a distinguished group of 23 speakers giving tutorial lectures. Among the speakers are Boris Deryagin of the Physical Chemistry Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and Nobuo Setaka of the National Institute for Research in Inorganic Materials, Tsukuba, Japan. Deryagin will give an "Overview of Low-Pressure Diamond Synthesis Research at the Institute of Physical Chemistry." Setaka will discuss the "Présent and Future of Diamond Research." Among other invited speakers from abroad is Benno Lux of the Technical University of Vienna, who will speak on "Low-Pressure Synthesis of Hard Coatings." In addition to the invited tutorial lectures, contributed poster papers are being solicited. Each afternoon of the Workshop will be devoted to the poster sessions and to organized but informai discussions of the major topical thèmes. Participants can also use the championship golf course, tennis courts, and hiking trails available at Quail Hollow. Information and registration materials can be obtained from: Prof. John C.
