Risperidone Cortical and subcapsular cataract: case report
A woman in second decade of her life [exact age at reaction onset not stated] developed cortical and posterior subcapsular cataract during treatment with risperidone for schizophrenia-like psychosis. The woman presented with complaints of a slowly progressive decrease in vision in both the eyes for the last 1 year. She had a traumatic brain injury before 2 years, after which she had developed schizophrenia‑like psychosis characterised by hallucinations and persecutory delusions. She had been receiving risperidone [route not stated] 2 mg/day. On examination (at the current presentation), best-corrected visual acuity was estimated 20/200 in both the eyes. Posterior subcapsular cataract and cortical cataract were observed in the lens [time to reaction onset not stated]. The woman was recommended to undergo cataract surgery [outcome not stated].
