Texas Section is Joint Sponsor of Symposium on Electronic Materials The North Texas Materials Characterization, an MRS Section, is one of the joint sponsors for the Ninth Annual Symposium on Electronic Materials, Processing, and Characterization to be held June 4-5, 1900 at the Richardson Hilton and Towers, Richardson, Texas. The other joint sponsors of this annual collaboration are the Texas Chapter of the American Vacuum Society and the North Texas Section of the Electrochemical Society. Events planned for the two-day symposium include présentations by the following invited speakers: • P. Batson, IBM TJ. Watson Research Center, Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy; • R.P.H. Chang, Northwestern University, Diamond Thin Films; • Steve Dzioba, Bell Northern Research, Plasma Déposition; • Dan Flamm, University of California, Berkeley, Plasma Etching; • Jeff Sampsell, Texas Instruments, High Définition Télévision; and • Mark Schattenburg, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, X-Ray Lithography. Contributed papers will cover the following topics: ad vanced lithography, advanced manufacturing and processing technology, characterization, diagnostics, diamond films, dielectrics, epitaxy and

déposition, metallization, optoelectronics, particles/contamination, plasma processing, superconductors, and II-VI and HI-V compound semiconductors. Student présentations will be judged and prizes will be awarded for first ($150) and second ($100) place. A plaque will be awarded for the best overall paper at the symposium.
