Pseudomembranous colitis and anaphylactic shock: 2 case reports In a retrospective analysis of spontaneous reports reported to the Russian Pharmacovigilance database between 24 November 2008 and 31 December 2018 for the drug ciprofloxacin, two patients [ages and sexes not stated] were described, who developed pseudomembranous colitis (one patient) or anaphylactic shock (one patient) during treatment with ciprofloxacin [routes, dosages and duration of treatment to reaction onset not stated]. Patient 1: The patient, who started receiving treatment with ciprofloxacin for Clostridium difficile infection, developed diarrhoea. Subsequently, the patient developed fatal homeostasis disorder and multiple organ failure. Autopsy confirmed the diagnosis of pseudomembranous colitis, which was considered as ciprofloxacin therapy related. Patient 2: The patient, who started receiving antibiotic treatment with ciprofloxacin developed fatal anaphylactic shock. Molchan NV, et al.
