Docetaxel Alcoholic intoxication due to alcohol excipient: case report A 44-year-old man, who had a history of alcohol dependence, received IV docetaxel 75 mg/m2 [frequency not stated] and prednisolone for metastatic prostate cancer. At his ninth cycle of chemotherapy, he received a new docetaxel formulation, containing 50% alcohol. During his infusion, he began experiencing symptoms of alcoholic intoxication, including drowsiness, confusion, imbalance and blurred vision with diplopia. The infusion was stopped; however, his dizziness persisted for at least 3 hours. In his final cycle of treatment, he was switched back to his previous docetaxel formulation and had no recurrence of symptoms. Mirza A, et al.
