Building sustainable cities is a global challenge for governments, and needs to be done in coordination with public and private organizations and, importantly, their citizens. When working towards the objective of achieving sustainable development worldwide, especially in light of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2015–2030, it is important to have a reference source to guide research and teaching efforts, as well as practical applications.
