PREFACE
This book offers a window into human resource practice in the hectic world of international development. It is a compilation of perspectives from management of HR practice and its perceived impact on organisational performance from the field. Based on a case study of six international non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Kenya, the book explores human resource management (HRM) practice and uncovers details about HRM practice by organisations in the development sector not found in NGO management literature. Informed by the author’s practical experience in the field, the book offers a unique study of HRM that marries theory and practice. Its contents challenge the reader to reflect on the interpretative application of management theory and stakeholder participation in an ever-changing global environment.
