1 Introduction Water is one of the prime elements responsible for life on earth. Totally, 75% of the earth surface is covered with salt water which cannot be used for drinking, growing crops or most industrial uses as it contains high amount of salts. Many people have been suffering from the shortage of safe drinking water, particularly in arid regions and areas near to the sea. The solution to the current state of problem includes building dams and reservoirs, transporting freshwater between locations, withdrawing groundwater and desalination. Building dams and reservoirs includes the disadvantages of displacement of people and disruption of aquatic systems and the hydrological cycle. Transferring large amounts of water from water-rich areas to water-poor areas can give stream runoff and can cause ecological, economical and health disasters. The technique of desalination can solve the problem and increase the supply of fresh water using electric RO system. The major disadvantage of desalination system using electric RO system is increasing the cost of the overall system and not viable. So, if arid regions and remote regions are rich in solar energy, solar distillation would be an effective solution for the scarcity of water resources. Solar radiation can be the source green energy which can be use as heat energy for evaporation of brackish or sea water and is then condensed as pure water. Earlier, in 1999, Hamdan et al. experimentally studied the performance of triple basin pyramid solar still, resulting in the y
