Hypersensitivity and hyponatremia: 2 case reports In a study of 188 patients, presented between September 2010 and April 2018, two patients [ages and sexes not stated] were described, who developed hypersensitivity reaction (n=1) or hyponatremia (n=1), while receiving cotrimoxazole for prophylaxis against pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) [routes, dosages, durations of treatments to reactions onsets and outcomes not stated]. The patients, who had systemic lupus erythematosus, received cotrimoxazole [trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole] for PCP prophylaxis. One of the 2 patients was receiving concomitant azathioprine. However, the patients developed hypersensitivity reaction (n=1) or hyponatremia (n=1) due to cotrimoxazole, requiring hospitalisation. Cotrimoxazole was withdrawn. Goto M, et al.
