Lysozyme chloride Anaphylactic reaction in an infant: case report A 9-month-old girl starting receiving a nasal decongestant containing lysozyme chloride [dosage not stated], neomycin, dexamethasone and chlorphenamine for afebrile catarrhal symptoms. Immediately after her first dose, she experienced an anaphylactic reaction with angioedema, generalised urticaria and progressive respiratory difficulties. She received IM methylprednisolone and oral cetirizine and, 15 minutes later, her symptoms eased. An egg allergy was suspected and she was recommended an egg-free diet. She re-presented at 11 months with perilabial urticaria following ingestion of a small amount of meringue. Her condition resolved spontaneously and she did not experience any further episodes of allergic reaction. An egg allergy was confirmed by skin and analytic tests. Ledesma Ben´ıtez I, et al.
