Various toxicities: case report A 25-year-old woman with bipolar disorder and a history of seven suicide attempts ingested 9g of quetiapine. She was comatose and required ventilation for respiratory distress [time to reaction onset not stated]. She received forced diuresis, gastric lavage and active charcoal. Sinus tachycardia and hypotension were noted; she recovered without further complications. Author comment: "No correlation was found between the serum concentration of quetiapine and the amount ingested. Potential local anticholinergic effects might reduce absorption." Tomruk NB, et al.
