Dependence and withdrawal symptoms: case report A 23-year-old man, with no history of substance abuse, started receiving 4-8 tablets of tramadol 50mg daily for pain following knee surgery, but subsequently developed dependence on the agent and was taking 30-40 tablets a day [duration of treatment to reaction onset not clearly stated]. Upon withdrawal, he would experience anxiety, intense cravings, cramps and palpations. He underwent medical detoxification as an inpatient and started rehab as an outpatient, but relapsed. He then admitted himself into a residential rehabilitation program [outcome not stated]. Bestha D.
