Treatment failure: case report In a retrospective study of 260 patients treated between 2000 to 2015 in USA, one patient [age and sex not stated] was described, who exhibited treatment failure during treatment with cisplatin for metastatic head and neck squamous cell carcinoma to cervical lymph nodes of unknown primary (HN-SCCUP). The patient, who was diagnosed with HN-SCCUP, started receiving radiotherapy administered to adjacent lymph node groups in the unilateral necks. Additionally, the patient received cisplatin [route and dosage not stated]. The patient had undergone a neck dissection (ND) prior to radiation therapy. During follow-up, the diagnostic CT scan revealed recurrence of the disease (treatment failure). Subsequent histopathology examination confirmed both mucosal and nodel relapse outside the radiotherapy field. Kamal M, et al.
