Sinus bradycardia: case report A 17-year-old boy developed sinus bradycardia during treatment with cisplatin for stage III nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The boy, who had stage III nasopharyngeal carcinoma, started receiving chemotherapy with IV cisplatin infusion 75 mg/m2 over 6h on day 1 of the treatment cycle. He also receivied fluorouracil along with various prophylactic medications. After 35 minutes of the initiation of cisplatin infusion, he was detected to have a heart rate of 41 bpm. Other findings were unremarkable. ECG revealed sinus bradycardia with a heart rate of 34 bpm. He was asymptomatic and on continuous cardiac monitoring. After 30 mins of the completion of cisplatin infusion, the boy’s bradycardia recovered without any intervention. The duration of the first episode of bradycardia was 355 min. He experienced recurrent sinus bradycardia attacks during the subsequent cycles of cisplatin, which eventually recovered. Sagcan F, et al. A rare entity: Recurrent cisplatin-induced bradycardia.
