Anaphylaxis: case report A 27-year-old woman received the first dose of oral levofloxacin treatment [dosage not stated] for bronchitis. Twenty minutes later, she developed an anaphylactic reaction with acute laryngeal oedema, dyspnoea, dysphonia, tachycardia (180 beats/min), severe hypotension (systolic BP 40mm Hg), facial angioedema and generalised urticaria. Subsequently, strongly positive reactions were observed for a skin prick test with levofloxacin, and intradermal tests with ofloxacin 1/100 and pefloxacin 1/1000. [Patient treatment and outcome not stated.] Author comment: "[T]he diagnosis of Allergic Immediate Hypersensitivity Reaction is supported by the clinically relevant positivity of Prick tests."
