Misoprostol Uterine hyperstimulation: case report In a descriptive study of 546 pregnant women, conducted at Rehman Medical Institute [Pakistan], between January 2015 and December 2018, a pregnant woman [age not stated] was described, who developed uterine hyperstimulation while receiving misoprostol for induction of labour. The pregnant woman was admitted with prelabour rupture of membrane at term. On the day of admission, she started receiving ampicillin 1g three times a day and metronidazole 100mL [sic] three times a day for 5 days. She subsequently started receiving oral misoprostol 50µg for induction of term labour. she subsequently developed uterine hyperstimulation associated with misoprostol [duration of treatment to reaction onset not stated; pregnancy and reaction outcome not stated]. Author comment: "Only 1 patient had uterine hyper stimulation, although systematic reviews have shown that misoprostol use is associated with significant hyper stimulation, which adversely affect both mother and baby."
