Drug eruption: case report A 3-year-old girl developed drug eruption during treatment with aspirin for Kawasaki’s disease. The girl presented to hospital with high fever. She also had cervical lymphadenopathy. She was diagnosed with group A streptococcal infection and amoxicillin was started. However, on hospital day 3, the cervical lymphadenopathy became massive. Subsequent clinical course and laboratory findings led to a diagnosis of Kawasaki’s disease. Consequently, amoxicillin was stopped, and she received a single dose of an unspecified gamma-globulin, additionally, aspirin 30 mg/kg three times a day was started [route not stated]. Subsequently, she developed drug eruption [time to reaction onset not stated]. Consequently, on hospital day 10, the girl’s treatment with aspirin was stopped. Within a few days following the discontinuation, the drug eruption disappeared. Subsequently, she recovered from the Kawasaki’s disease. Author comment: "Aspirin (30 mg/kg three times daily) was also administered, but subsequently halted on day 10 after the appearance of a drug eruption. The drug eruption disappeared within a few days after aspirin was halted." Taniguchi K, et al. Enhanced neck CT for predicting kawasaki disease hidden in group a streptococcal infection.
